Hey Everyone,
This is A.I. Supremacy Premium,
It’s a fairly interesting time for AI-Labs who partner with BigTech to get ahead. There’s some fairly big news this week. Alphabet Inc.’s Google is in talks to invest at least $200 million into artificial intelligence startup Cohere Inc. You may remember who Cohere is, but let’s recap:
Founded in 2019, Cohere creates natural language processing software that developers can then use to build artificial intelligence applications for businesses, including tools for chatbots and other features that can understand human speech and text. Last November, the company announced a multiyear partnership with Google to have its cloud division supply the computing power needed for Cohere to train its software models.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is ready to give OpenAI more funding. They are said to be in advanced discussions for a new funding round for OpenAI. I’m not sure how, but OpenAI values itself at nearly $20 Billion. Investors who purchased the OpenAI stock included Sequoia, Tiger Global Management and Andreesen Horowitz. OpenAI’s GPT-4 should come out soon, soon being in the next few months.
Even more fascinating perhaps is the proliferation of AI Startups coming out of stealth. Generally Intelligent came out of stealth October, 20th, 2022. You can see their website here. The exodus from Meta AI and Google Brain has led to more A.I. startups forming.
