Towards the Generative A.I. Operating System (OS)
What is Adept AI?: $350 Million for Series B is impressive.
In the intense week (Week of March 13th, 2023) of launches we’ve seen in Generative A.I., it was almost difficult to keep up with all the news. I was travelling so even harder for me. Now that I’m back at home, something that really caught my eye was the Series B of Adept A.I.

Adept A.I. will make AI an Adept in using APIs and Software on our computer
Adept is building a machine learning model that can interact with everything on your computer.
So when you think of ubiquitous A.I. that can learn to use software tools together we have to keep an eye on this exciting startup.
Sam Altman can say we need to have our guard up, but in launching GPT-4 he’s signaling more capabilities into the wild. It’s therefore a really strange time in A.I. innovation and LLMs integrating with software and products around the world in a period of mass adoption.
Their Series A was led by Greylock and Addition. The former round included participation from Root Ventures and angels including Scott Belsky (founder of Behance), Howie Liu (founder of Airtable), Chris Re (Stanford), Andrej Karpathy (head of Tesla Autopilot), and Sarah Meyohas.
For the Series B, everyone from Microsoft to Nvidia wanted in. Adept A.I. is building AI that “enables humans and computers to work together creatively to solve problems,” announced last week that it raised $350 million in a Series B funding round co-led by General Catalyst and Spark Capital with participation from Addition, Greylock, Atlassian Ventures, Microsoft, Nvidia, Workday Ventures, Caterina Fake, Frontiers Capital, PSP Growth, SV Angel and A.Capital.
A Machine Intelligence Economy Startup
So a few of the prominent investors then include:
Greylock
General Catalyst
Addition
Root Ventures
Atlassian Ventures
Microsoft
Nvidia
For me Adept A.I. is working on integrating Generative A.I. in terms of productivity, interoperability and utility. They say:
An AI teammate for everyone. Adept is building an entirely new way to get things done. It takes your goals, in plain language, and turns them into actions on the software you use every day.
It has implications for the no-code revolution and the machine economy and the human interface with A.I. that can learn to integrate different tools.
As companies scramble to integrate Generative A.I. into their products, Adept A.I. can enable more API friendly integration.
In a recent survey of AI professionals by Intel-owned Cnvrg.io, nearly 50% said that they believe organization investment in AI development will increase despite the macroeconomic climate.
So these truly are exciting times. If you like News like this why not follow our Reddit. I’m sharing links (along with members) from around the Web on A.I. tagged in tags called flairs.
