The Perpetual Dawn of Commercial A.I.
Promising more and under-delivering is not a good template for trust in innovation.
Hey Everyone,
If you are ever on social media or reading the internet version of the news, you may have stumbled upon A.I. as a topic. A.I. is likely the most hyped technology wave that’s always somehow being talked about in business, society and commerce. Even when A.I. promises of the past fall flat, Silicon Valley manages to manufacture a new layer or promise and utility.
But are Venture Capital and BigTech narratives and their obviously inflated PR budget pushed themes, a good fact-verified way to build on A.I’s commercial adoption in the business world? The disconnect from faith in A.I. and reality is a chasm that’s more significant than the public is lead to believe.
In 2022, advanced LLMs such as ChatGPT and DALL-E 2 are displayed fascinating results and the impression of thinking and reasoning. Stable Diffusion and Midjourney became even more accessible to the general public with text-to-image prompts.
A.I. portrait apps went viral like Lensa A.I., among many others. Generative A.I. is already spurring a wave of tools and apps that is like the dawn of commercial A.I. Even as enterprise A.I., Big Data and Cloud software companies struggle with the stock valuation with equities on the great decline.
With GPT-4 going to be announced soon, there are many eager expectations for the future abilities of A.I. at the scale of mass adoption. But how much innovation for the consumer or business community are we really seeing in A.I? With the success of Lensa, the AI-powered selfie app from Prisma Labs that went viral, you can expect a lot of me-too apps along these lines. A lot of tools and ChatGPT-clones are already arriving.
In 2023, we’ll be copying the human cloning apps in the hopes of striking it rich! What’s wrong with such a world if A.I. is really as mature as it is pretending to be? History is always the best predictor of future success, how would you rate Silicon Valley’s so-called innovations in A.I. of late?
