The New York Times Will Report Q2 2023 Results On Tuesday

Hey Everyone,

For all the hype and commercial success of OpenAI in 2023, there are dark clouds hanging over ChatGPT’s success. It goes right down to the foundations of what the company is built upon.

I believe that OpenAI’s partnership with Axel Springer is a very sinister sign of things to come, considering OpenAI was trained on the work of authors and even the NYT illegally. The weaponization of A.I. without consent, privacy or even ownership has started. These are not democratic values.

What’s scary is the total lack of consent here. The deal with the German media conglomerate Axel Spring means it has signed a licensing deal which would allow OpenAI to incorporate all those articles from outlets like Business Insider (now just called Insider) and Politico into its products, including ChatGPT.

And honestly for A.I. to have rule of law, action needs to be taken. It’s clear OpenAI cut a lot of legal corners to obtain the data that made ChatGPT possible.

While Billionaire backers of OpenAI make ridiculous statements on X about the future, Sam Altman is not my favorite person these days, there is a pattern where it’s clear he has employed a lot of shady ethics that has allowed OpenAI to rise at this critical moment of GPT innovation. Microsoft is certainly liable.
