Everyone knows ChatGPT’s text interface isn’t that good. ChatGPT’s early momentum sort of fizzled out. It came out this week that Apple’s former chief design officer, Jony Ive, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman are allegedly exploring opportunities to collaborate on building an unspecified artificial intelligence “hardware device,” according to two sources speaking to the Information and reported in the Financial Times.
This is a fairly interesting development. Does Multimodal A.I. need to have a wearable hardware device to augment people in the real world? Ambient computing 2.0? Such is the game we always play when the latest flashy “chatbots” come out. We go through this entire cycle, yet again.
