OpenAI bids for Japan business as it opens Tokyo office | Reuters

Hey Everyone,

It’s strange how history works. Microsoft Research Asia helped China become the Superpower in AI that is today, and both OpenAI and Microsoft have recently announced that they are building in Japan, China’s main historical opponent. What could be going on?

At a time when Microsoft’s Cybersecurity capabilities are failing the U.S. Government, and Google DeepMind says it will spend more than $100 Billion on AI, OpenAI continues to expand its head count and now a new geographical hub as well, so why Japan?

This has bigger geopolitical implications than most analysts are pointing out.
