This is a wide-ranging and unsettling read.

The part that stays with me is the gap between the language of AI infrastructure and the lived reality of it. “Compute” sounds abstract. A 24/7 low-frequency hum in someone’s town is not abstract at all.

Progress always has a sound. We should probably listen more carefully to who is being asked to hear it.

Thank you so much the levels of capital and the disregard for the human aspects of the physical reality are very noticeably disconnected. There is something so primitive in the level of exploitation that generative AI requires both culturally and financially.

It's as if the speed is also a question of a heist, a gigantic heist before the city wakes up and the cops arrive.

Build as many data centers before there's any semblance of AI regulation because it's all going to get a lot more complicated and a lot more expensive.
