  • If you have ever been fascinated by AR and VR, this piece on extended reality and AI might be the right piece for you. It’s a creative deep dive with lucid explanations, infographics, GIFs, videos and XR lore and important hints on where we are headed.

Extended Reality (XR) is an umbrella term that encompasses a range of immersive technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). These technologies modify or enhance our perception of reality by integrating digital elements into the real world or creating entirely virtual environments.

With world models and new kinds of Generative AI, I think we can be certain that augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) does have an interesting future at the intersection of AI. Going back to Apple, the Vision Pro was priced at $3,500, making it an early-adopter product. Now Apple is working on a cheaper VR product hopefully that it will release before the end of 2025.

It’s not everyday we get to cover the future of these technologies at the intersection of AI. I asked

Gabriele Romagnoli
of the Newsletter XR AI Spotlight for his expert take on the topic.

If you feel overwhelmed by the amount of news in the XR and AI space, his Newsletter is an interesting space. Each week he delves into one interview with founders and makers at the intersection between XR and AI. He also does a “Product Spotlight” featuring a curated tool, app or experience that you can try straight away. He explores how XR and AI will change how we do gaming, advertising, shopping, meetings and even work, and so much more.

The Metaverse still has so much promise, especially AI mediated environments. Gabriele Romagnoli is based in the Netherlands. Immersive technologies and AI are pushing the boundaries of what is possible. For instance, Meta Platforms has significantly increased its spending on the Metaverse in recent years. As of 2024, it has spent approximately $46 billion on the Metaverse since 2021. So what’s all 👀 the fuss about?
