🧠 Elon Musk’s Neuralink Gets FDA’s Approval For Brain Implant Technology, Plans To Move Forward With Human Trials 🤯

While the experts of the world who work for corporations but call themselves ‘scientists’ warn about the existential risk of A.I. for civilization’s extinction, the world moves on.

The 22-Word Statement of 2023

“Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war,” reads the statement from the nonprofit Center for AI Safety.

As an emerging tech analyst, the brain-computer-interface (BCI for short) I believe represents along with robotics, LLMs, quantum computing and biotechnology as a bleeding edge field to watch as it relates to the evolution of A.I.

Everyone from China, to DARPA to BigTech are working frantically on a brain-computer-interface or BCI. The basic idea is there will be a wide range of non-invasive and invasive ways to make people more cybernetic to expand their capabilities.

While startups like Elon Musk’s Neuralink gets a lot of media exposure, there are many competitors and many in stealth mode and in Government labs like DARPA and in China. The BCI isn’t just the next interface, it’s likely where an A.I. powered personal assistants will be merged with our biology, decision making, language comprehension and how we seamlessly interact with apps.

When and if that occurs, it will be a transhumanistic moment equal in importance to having a smart computer in our pocket, in a likewise innovation roughly corresponding with how the internet and mobile revolution changed society. But do actually want to be cyborgs? (and do we have a choice).

Elon Musk has stated in the past that human beings should change to keep up (2017) with the progress of A.I. The X Corp. billionaire Elon Musk’s BCI venture, Neuralink, gained the necessary approval to move forward as a brain implant and surgical tool.

Later a BCI won’t just be to restore senses to the functionally disabled or digital communications, but where we are connected to the internet and with enhancements to “make us more productive”, among other things. Companies like Neuralink believe BCIs will be Brain-computer interfaces that have the potential to change lives for the better. It sounds a lot like how startups such as OpenAI speak of the benefits of AGI for humanity. Different people read utopian or dystopian tones in all of this, but regardless it’s coming.

That we have a personalized A.I. Assistant that we communicate with via a non-invasive BCI in the future seems like a distinct possibility to me.
