Introduction to Claude Skills: Claude’s Skills feature allows users to create reusable instructions for specialized tasks, such as adhering to brand guidelines, saving time on repetitive workflows; these skills are compatible with ChatGPT and Gemini for broader use.
Usage Example: By enabling Anthropic’s brand guidelines skill, Claude generates presentations that align with specific company styles, like Anthropic’s, compared to generic outputs without skills.
Enabling and Applying Skills: Access Skills via Settings > Capabilities, toggle on pre-built ones, and invoke them either manually via “Try in chat” or automatically through prompts; always enable the skill-creator for best results.
Creating Custom Skills: Prompt Claude to build a skill (e.g., for Google branding), receive a downloadable ZIP file with Markdown instructions and resources, then upload it to Claude for use in new chats.
Cross-Platform Compatibility and Limitations: Export ZIP files to ChatGPT or Gemini for similar automation; however, Skills require a paid subscription, may yield inconsistent results, and can activate unintentionally if not managed.
