Does Claude 3 Opus Display Emergent Behavior?

Some subjective reports of Opus show-and-tell of "uncanny abilities."

People who are using Claude 3 Opus for the first time are saying a lot of impressive things on X, now this is to be expected but it’s still fairly interesting.

Willison: "No model has beaten GPT-4 on a range of widely used benchmarks like this."

This has to do with the marketing the vague term of “AGI” a chief PR/comms/MarkCom strategy of Generative AI startups and in particular foundational model builders like OpenAI, Anthropic and to a lesser extent these days Google DeepMind.

It looks like Anthropic is taking a page out of the Comms/PR tactics of OpenAI now.

But can we tease out some emergent behaviors from the recent user feedback of Opus? Why might Claude 3 be more aligned to humans than GPT-4?
