Apple Stores Data on Chinese Servers, Censors Apps for CCP: Report

Hi Everyone,

While the investment of Microsoft, Google, Meta and Amazon in Generative A.I. seems obvious, Apple feels a bit left behind at this point heading into late 2023.

  • As noted by Bloomberg, Apple has a chatbot (a bit like ChatGPT) using its own large language model (LLM) framework called “Ajax”, also known internally as Apple GPT.

  • Since around August, 2023 Apple has been increasing its pace of hiring for Generative A.I. positions in places like California, Seattle, Paris and Beijing that will work on large language models or LLMs — software that can produce plausible text, images or code in response to simple prompts.

  • Apple is on track to spend $1 billion per year on developing its generative artificial intelligence products, Bloomberg reported.
