Hey Everyone,

June 5th, 2023 finally came. Apple has been preparing for this day for years. So why is an A.I. blogger about to talk about WWDC 23, read on to find out.

Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC 2023) was noticeably better this year. I stayed up late in Taiwan to watch it, and was taken aback by the amount of machine learning upgrades Apple announced in their products, OS updates and LLM on-device integration.

As usual Apple announced a host of new software features for its popular devices — computers, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, AirPods and the new Apple Vision Pro headset — at its worldwide developer conference, and yet some of the product upgrades were stunning and clearly uses A.I. at unprecedented levels to optimize the user-interface and improve the user experience.

While Meta, Google and Microsoft have paraded the term ‘AI’ in the Earnings call, I feel as if Apple takes the high road and focuses on what they do best, delighting us with great products. Yet watching WWDC 2023, I could feel machine intelligence in a majority of their most important updates and new features. You see, while "AI" is a very ambiguous term these days, surrounded by both astounding advancements and extreme hype, Apple chose to avoid that association and instead focused on terms like "machine learning" and "ML."

I am more of a fan of Apple (I do not use iOS devices) than before experiencing the conference. At WWDC 2023, Apple introduced AI and machine learning advancements in several products but the focus was always on the device, the user experience and how machine learning just made things “better”.

There were also futuristic aspects to WWDC 2023 as well. Apple’s headset is finally here, and it’s called Vision Pro. It’ll retail for $3,499, early next year on Apple’s website. We will surely be debating these products and what they mean for our humanity.

But the majority of the times machine learning was mentioned, they were clearly user-experience upgrades. Like a better autocorrect when texting, or a live-voice mail that can transcribe the call so you know whether to pick up in case you are in a meeting. Yes the Vision Pro goggles look ridiculous, but I’m not here to critique the fashion.
